PLACEMENT - Account Planning
THE WORLD AWAITS. CHOSE FROM THREE DIFFERENT TYPES OF PROGRAMS.
Getting a good job is what it’s all about. Having good contacts gives you a head start on landing that good job. The network of Miami Ad School graduates in leading agencies all over the world gives you a big edge. (Click "Read More" for a complete listing of agencies that have hired our grads.) Knock on any ad agency door in leading agencies anywhere and you’ll likely find a Miami Ad School grad. If there isn’t one, the agency creative recruiter and creative director certainly know Miami Ad School well. Our reputation makes your job search much easier.
Of course students can make a great network of industry contacts themselves while they study and intern around the world. Their mentors, teachers and work supervisors are all agency professionals. Agencies often hire their interns when they graduate. Or a teacher (who is an agency creative) will find a student in with the perfect skill set and personality for the opening in their company.
But Miami Ad School doesn’t leave anything to chance. The school has a comprehensive graduate placement program to augment its extensive network of contacts.
First, all graduate work is available to ad agencies and design companies with an individual on-line portfolio of work. This puts the graduates at the fingertips of every agency recruiter and creative director in the USA and many other countries in the world. Every job lead from ad agency recruiters gets immediate and personal attention from our Placement Director who provides any recruiter with access to the on-line portfolio. (The school receives typically a thousand or more job inquiries every year.)
In addtition the school holds several Portfolio Reviews each year where we invite industry professionals to come and interview the graduating students. The events have been held in: Hamburg, Miami, Minneapolis, New York and San Francisco. Many graduates receive their first job offers after this event.

Pick of the Litter
competition for account planners
The winners of this year's Pick of the Litter competition will be announced in conjunction with the Jay Chiat Planning Awards in New York City.
Now entering its second decade, the Pick of the Litter competition--an annual competition for account planners with less than three years of experience--has usually handed out it's awards during the AAAAs planning conference, which was set for San Francisco until it was cancelled in late July. Have no fear, our friends at the AAAAs have come through and the POL winners will be announced along the recipients of the prestigious Jay Chiat Planning Awards.

MENNO KLUIN
Miami Ad School Grad Named DDB NY ECD

Hamburg alum Menno Kluin continues his meteoric rise, making executive creative director at one of America's largest ad agencies in just over five years
Since his time at Miami Ad School, Menno Kluin has been a star. He took home an extraordinary amount of student awards, and was even named YoungGun's student of the year in 2005, just short of graduation. During his time at both Saatchi & Saatchi and Y&R in New York, he went on to win every imaginable award under the proverbial sun. Now the Hamburg-educated Dutchman continues his journey through Gotham and lands as ECD/head of art at DDB.
DDB's CCO--and Menno's new boss--Matt Eastwood says of his most recent hire: "Today, Menno is one of the most talented art directors working in our industry. But, even more important than talent, Menno has drive. No one is more passionate, more committed, more driven to do great work than Menno. It’s no surprise to me that he has won every award possible, more than once. He will be an incredible addition to the DDB New York team.”
All of us at Miami Ad School congratulate Menno on his latest achievement. That said, none of us are the least bit surprised.

Christopher Owens
ACCOUNT PLANNING Bootcamp Graduate

Christopher Owens is a Miami Ad School Account Planning Boot Camp grad from 1999.
"Simply put, it’s one of the best things I ever did for my career." Christopher Owens
He was born and raised in the Midwest and had an affinity for media, communications and pop culture which collided when he discovered the discipline of account planning while working at a small agency in Dallas. For a year or two – he was the planning department, flying solo, reading books (and what little was on the Web back then) without other planners around to interact with or learn from.
In 1999, he attended the Miami Ad School’s second ever Account Planning Boot Camp in Miami where he graduated “Top Dog.” Christopher joined The Richards Group in March 2000, where I lead planning efforts for a broad range of brands – like Nokia, The Home Depot and TV Guide. Today, he is a multiple Effie award-winning Brand Planning Group Head. He travels way too much and is invited to speak regularly on branding and other “plannerly” topics around the world. He is most proud of being the first grad to ever be invited back to teach at the Boot Camp.
