In "Heroes", one of his best known Songs, David Bowie’s sings "We can be heroes – for ever and ever". This stirring song will immediately start you up with its pure energy … and guess where Bowie wrote it? Right here, in Berlin!
As soon as you get to know Berlin, you won’t wonder about that any more. Hardly any other city hosts a likewise potential of creative powers. Arts, cinema, music, architecture or fashion: no place here (or elsewhere …) should rival the German capital in offering thrilling brews to young, talented creatives.
Berlin has creativity matching YOUR’s! There’s a youthful, boasting and sometimes harsh energy in the city, joined by an impact that some consider to be more influential as New York’s today. And soon also, you will understand what Klaus Wowereit, the governing mayor, meant when he proudly claimed: "Berlin may be poor – BUT IT’S SEXY!"
Which also includes the fact that this city is affordable. A big advantage over many other metropolises around the world – you don’t need to be rich to get your kicks here. Coming round for creativity, you can find the latest stimuli for inspiration almost everywhere. This is true for the advertising business as well: Famous agencies such as Scholz & Friends, Heimat, DDB, Jung von Matt – and many more – have established powerful bases here.
Miami Ad School adds to the city’s creative lineup since 2009, offering educational programs for Copy Writers, Graphic Artist and Art Directors in both English and German. For anyone who wants to get the best ad school training world-wide in one of the planet’s most inspiring cities!
Welcome to Berlin-Schöneberg!
Berlin’s Miami Ad School is located in a beautiful ex-industry loft, neighboring other addresses of creative biz. You can find coffee houses just around the corner to get inspired or relax, and within 10 minutes, the inter urban train (›S-Bahn‹) will take you downtown: It’s just a short walk to the ›Julius-Leber-Brücke‹-Station of the ›S1‹-line.
By the way, guess who lived right here in Schöneberg, just 500 meters from our school? David Bowie, from 1976 to 1978.
So, a fascinating, substantial education in a city boasting with creativity as much as yourself – what better brew should you wish for?
The Miami Ad School Portfolio Program.
A biennial education for Copy Writers, Graphic Artists and Art Directors – including a nine month, world wide trip to internationally renowned agencies and schools.
This is the program that makes sure for our graduates’ proofed success: During the first year, you will work with some of Berlin’s best creatives as your teachers. They all come straight from business, being Creative Directors for some of the best known agencies, and you will meet them once per week. You will learn how to get a a good idea (yeah, you CAN learn that!), how to create and produce a TV spot, what a good ad is about. And you will focus closely on the key platform of your generation, the World Wide Web.
Your second year will see you on a world tour: To one of our other schools – New York, Amsterdam, Miami or elsewhere – or to an agency internship in any global metropolis. Whatever you choose, it will be an important practical experience that will largely improve your qualifications. Than, for the last quarter of your second year, you will come back to Berlin to compile your portfolio, adding to it the campaigns you made. And we will get you ready to apply for your first job, to step out into the Big Real World.
Learning in Berlin
Right from the beginning, you will work on ›real world‹ briefings, distilled off actual agencies’ daily business. Deadlines will always be tight, and there will be LOTS (!) of work. But this is the very stuff that will make you fit for business. Live will be just like Berlin: 24/7! A thrilling beat attending you on your creative growth…
As Jean-Remy von Matt, Head of Germany’s best advertising agency, puts it:
»Miami Ad School’s is clearly more in step with actual practice than any other program – and closer to the everyday ›madness‹ that is typical for an ambitious agency. That’s because the teachers are right from the biz (some of them from our own house), and not from its outskirts. We luckily were able to employ a lot of the school’s graduates, and our staff manager is always enthusiastic to announce the addition of another Miami Ad School graduate to our lineup.«
»An education like this is definitely what I had dreamed of«, resumes Jean-Remy von Matt of Jung von Matt.
