Product Design Project
AWARDS / RECOGNITIONS:
The assignment was to cross reference a period of art history with a personal story to create a chair that would reflect myself as a designer.
My story is about accepting who I am, and that my values and stubborn traits are part of my strength. Once I embrace who I am, I can live my life to the fullest and become my most impactful self.
I chose the Swiss Modern style, which is based on grids and clear messaging. Swiss designers believe that the message should be portrayed openly and honestly to have the most impact on the world, and this matches perfectly with how I wish to live my life.
To visually portray all of this, I created a chair with a metal grid "skeleton," which is meant to represent the strength of my values and beliefs as a person. The sides are made of lucite, which is also strong but clear. This is meant to show how my goal is to become more transparent with my strength, and provide a clear message to better impact my world.
